Jenny Wilson
Salt Lake County Mayor
Jenny Wilson currently serves as the mayor of Salt Lake County. She was elected to this position in 2019 after serving as an at-large member of the Salt Lake County Council for 10 years. Both positions represent over one million constituents. Wilson was the first woman elected to the Council and began serving her first term in 2005. As a member of the Council, she has championed numerous policy initiatives, including ethics reform, criminal justice reform, open space preservation, and government efficiency. Wilson helped establish the Jordan River Commission, designed to improve and preserve the river. She also co-established the opioid task-force at Salt Lake County to help coordinate and innovate in efforts surrounding the opioid epidemic.
Wilson has broad experience working in the private and non-profit sectors, including positions in administration, fundraising, government relations and project management for organizations such as the Sundance Institute and Film Festival, Sundance Group, Voices for Utah Children, the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center, and the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games. Wilson received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah in 1988 and a Masters of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School in 1998.
Wilson and her husband have two sons and reside in Salt Lake City.
