Changing Lives
Homelessness has many faces and many stories.
It can happen to anyone, but there’s hope.
Together with community partners and supporters, we’re changing lives
and giving people a fresh start.
Behind each number is a person whose basic needs were met so they could begin moving forward. The following figures show the breadth of that impact.

Lives We Have Changed
Family Interim Non-Congregate Housing (FINCH)
Elena came to FINCH while pregnant after leaving an unsafe relationship. She had a stable place to spend her last months of pregnancy and bring her newborn home. With support from staff, she was able to take maternity leave, access financial assistance, and plan for what came next. She recently moved into her own apartment at a rent she can afford long term. She and her baby now have a safe, stable place to call home.
Most Vulnerable People (MVP)
Robert came to MVP dealing with ongoing health issues that were hard to manage in crowded shelter spaces. Having a quieter place to stay gave him the chance to rest and focus on his health. He started meeting regularly with Fourth Street Clinic, and over time things became more manageable. With his health improving, he was able to start thinking about stability and housing again.
Gail Miller Resource Center (GMRC)
James and Lila had been navigating homelessness together and relied heavily on each other for support. At GMRC, they were able to stay together and keep their dog with them. That stability made it easier to focus on next steps instead of just getting through each day. With help from case managers, they found jobs, saved money, and moved into housing together. Staying together made all the difference.
Geraldine E. King Resource Center (GEK)
Denise came to GEK after a series of personal losses that left her feeling overwhelmed and alone. Being surrounded by other women who understood what she was going through helped her start to feel grounded again. Having consistent meals and a safe place to sleep gave her a sense of routine she hadn’t had in a long time. With support from staff, she stayed focused on her goals and was eventually able to move into her own apartment. She now has a stable place to live and a fresh start.
Pamela Atkinson Resource Center (PARC)
Marcus, an Army veteran, came to PARC without income and looking for a way forward. With support from the housing team, he was able to secure an apartment through a 55+ Housing Authority program. Since moving in, he has reconnected with family and started treatment for his rheumatoid arthritis. He continues to check in regularly with staff and often shares how much he appreciates having a place of his own.
Connie Crosby Family Resource Center (CCFRC)
Luis and Mariah came to MFRC with their one year old after losing housing when Luis missed work to care for their child and eventually lost his job. It became a landing place for their family during a stressful and uncertain time, giving them a safe place to stay, regular meals, and a chance to regroup. From there, they transitioned to FINCH, where they have more stability and space while working toward long term housing. With support from staff, they are building a plan for the future and focusing on creating a stable home for their child.
