Family Interim Housing Facility

The Family Interim Housing Program will provide safe, stable, interim housing with onsite support services for approximately 85 families staying in private rooms. Pending approval from the South Salt Lake Planning Commission and City Council, this new facility, which is a key component of the Ending Family Homelessness Plan, will provide interim housing for families who are experiencing homelessness with support services to help them find a permanent home or other long-term solution. In addition, this project provides an additional program option and capacity to help prevent turnaways at the Midvale Family Resource Center, which has been exceeding capacity for more than a year.

This family facility is a top priority for the Salt Lake Valley Coalition to End Homelessness and has received funding from the State Office of Homeless Services and private donors.

Shelter the Homeless is working through a formal public process with South Salt Lake City to obtain approval with the goal of opening the new facility in late 2024.
